Description
Introduction to beginner taxidermy using guinea pigs
Have you ever been interested in learning the art of taxidermy preservation? This is your chance to learn beginner level taxidermy preservation methods for small mammals that you can use at home.
Registrants will learn prepping, borax preserving, and mounting of taxidermy using frozen deceased guinea pigs sourced from reptile feed suppliers. They will be guided through the process of hand making a traditional wrapped body form for their guinea pigs. Finally, students will learn how to mount and display thier creations.
Students can choose to create a traditional natural style taxidermy piece, or a non-traditional (rogue) taxidermy piece like an anthropomorphic style or fantasy style piece.
All materials needed are included in the fee, including the cast urethane heads. Additionally, wooden bases and some habitat/dress up/scene building materials will be provided, as well as all specimens, tools, PPE (personal protection equipment), and the necessary materials to create a finished taxidermy mount.
NOTE: Students will be wearing gloves as they handle and skin deceased rodents (guinea pigs), so please keep this in mind when considering signing up.
