Art June 14, 21, 28 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Learn the basics of creating characters for comics, games, and movies and how to bring them to life, creating your artistic legacy. Classes take place at the Kirtland Grayling location in the Art Department with Scott Rice. Ages 11-17. Computers June 20, 21, 22 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Join Matt Bierman, IT Director at Kirtland Community College, for a fun three-day program that covers the Linux operating system, and explores computing concepts with the Raspberry Pi. The Raspberry Pi is an actual computer that students will learn how to use and then will be able to keep to continue working all summer after the course is complete. This course is designed for students who are at least 12 years old. Automotive June 20, 21, 22 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. 11-12 yrs. 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. 14 + yrs. Are you ready to learn about the automotive technician world? Kirtland Automotive instructors will teach students basic under-hood inspection and maintenance skills. The brand-new auto lab at the Kirtland Grayling location is outfitted with state-of-the-art technology that will allow students to gain insight into the automotive industry. Participants will learn about tune-ups, brake repair, computer-based diagnostics, scan tools, shop safety, and electrical systems. Biology June 20, 21, 22 12 to 2:30 p.m. Biology is a big subject and is full of hands-on fun. Join us at Kirtland this summer to Learn to use microscopes, and learn about how biology applies to forensic investigation, and DNA research. Participants will also learn about blood typing, animal behavior, dissection, human anatomy/physiology, and insects. Cybersecurity Field Trip June 19 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Join us for a road trip to Ferris State University to tour the new Center for Virtual Learning building and the campus. In the Center for Virtual Learning, we will visit the Working Digital Forensic Labs, including nested Faraday rooms and a man-trapped evidence locker, various software and tools used in Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics situations, distance-enhanced classrooms, a podcast studio, Esports/Competition Center. This course is designed for students who are at least 12 years old. Esports Careers June 27, 28, 29 1 to 3 p.m. Learn how to turn your love for video games into several exciting career opportunities. Be a part of building a real eSports competition. Careers include IT Technician, Art Design, Media production, game programming, and more!
