Sticky Buns at Summer Kitchen of Wellington Farm

            One of the more popular events to be held at Wellington Farm USA near Grayling is Sticky Buns Day!  This year, Sticky Buns Day will be on Saturday, June 24. The event will take place in Jenney’s Summer Kitchen which is located in the center of the museum’s 60-acre park.  Sticky Buns will be made from scratch the old fashioned way and baked in the kitchen’s wood stove; just the way it was done in 1932, the year depicted by the museum.  Visitors can smell the buns as they bake in the oven and watch as they are prepared on the baker’s table.  Sticky Buns are not offered for sale at the farm but if you are quick enough, you might be able to snitch a taste of one from the cooling plate on the table.

            While at Wellington for Sticky Buns Day, be sure to save enough time to visit some of the other facilities there.  The historic Stittsville Church, built in 1873. The Loom House and Howard’s Broom Shop which are beside the Railroad Grade..  Junior Wakeley’s Sawmill which once manufactured railroad spikes and the Annis House which was purchased in 1927 out of the Montgomery Ward catalogue.  Then go back to the Summer Kitchen for another Sticky Bun!  On the way you may catch a ride on the museum’s 1914 Advance Steam Engine.

Wellington Farm, USA is located at 6944 S. Military Road southwest of Grayling.  The farm is easily accessed from either Exit 251 of I-75 or Exit 206 of US-127.  Wellington Farm USA is owned and operated by Wellington Farm Park, Inc., a 501c(3) corporation.
