Superhero September: Main Event & Disc Golf Glow Tournament
Superhero September: Main Event & Disc Golf Glow Tournament
Saturday, September 14, 2024 (6:00 PM - 9:00 PM) (EDT)
Description
It’s hard to believe that it is already time for North Central Area Credit Union’s Superhero September to raise funds for our local Children’s Assessment Centers in conjunction with Put On The Cape: A Foundation of Hope! Last year, we raised over $17,800 (a six-year total of more than $76,800) to help provide a hero for the kids who need one!
This year we continue to Grow! As this program is a pet project of NCACU, funds are raised for the centers serving our branch areas. Our “up north” team of NCACU Branches in Grayling, Houghton Lake, and Roscommon continue to raise funds for the Northern Michigan Children’s Assessment Center. Our Standish team will raise funds for the Arenac County Branch of CAN Council, and our Grandville location will raise funds for Kent County CAC! That means the funds we raise will support THREE centers serving hundreds of kids and families across the middle of the state!
Our theme this year is “Light Up the Dark,” and we have moved the Super Main Event to Saturday evening to avoid conflicts with youth sports in the fall. Children and families accessing the centers are often at the darkest point in their lives, and we want to spread light and ensure that assessment and treatment bring light to the children and families using those services. Participants will enjoy Glow in the Dark festivities at the Super Main Event.
Super Main Event & Disc Golf Glow Tournament
September 14th @Hanson Hills Recreation Area, Grayling
This is our third year at Hanson Hills, and we hope to make it an event suitable to draw support from all over Northern Michigan. All profits raised are donated directly to the Child Assessment Centers. We hope you will consider joining our efforts this year! You can participate by taking part in one of the events, sponsoring a team in the Virtual 5K or Disc Golf Tournament, by donating goods and services to the centers, or by being an event sponsor. Sponsorship makes the largest impact because all proceeds go directly to the center in your area!!
- Mighty Miler Fun Run-6:15 pm Kids ages 12 and under can register to get a cape and mask and run the trail around the pond area. $10 per child goes to the Northern Michigan Children’s Assessment Center and the first 100 kids registered get a cape and mask!
- Superhero 5K-6:30 pm This event will be offered for kids ages 12 and up and adults (younger kids are welcome under adult supervision) $35/person and each pre-registered participant gets glow goodies and t-s hirt.
- Event is self-timed with a running clock, so you can walk or race the course.
- Justice League Team 5K Event-6:30 pm This is for teams of four people. $125 per team and each participant gets a t-shirt and glow goodies. Find a corporate sponsor or just get some friends together!
- VIRTUAL Superhero Run-(online) We are again hosting the virtual 5k for friends and family who want to support the centers but are not able to join in person. $35 per person or $125 per 4-person team and each participant gets a T-shirt! What is a Virtual 5K? That means you register (Donate to the cause), dress up like your favorite superhero, and then run, walk, or roll a 5K in your own neighborhood! The important part is not how you participate, but that you do participate! This is an easy and fun way to show your support to kids who desperately need a hero! This is also an excellent opportunity for businesses who would like to sponsor employee teams!
- Superheroes and Sidekicks Disc Golf Glow Up-7:00 pm This is our second year hosting a disc golf event, and this year is GLOWING! Hanson Hills has two beautiful Disc Golf Courses, and members of the Local Disc Golf League have volunteered to help us host a Skins Match and side games that will run as part of the Superhero festivities. $20 PER person to play the glow course and cash for side games. Help us raise money for kids that need a hero and have a shot to win some great prizes!
- Local Heroes—We will ask local Healthcare, Police, Fire, EMS, and community agency heroes to join us at the Super Main Event so that kids can interact with the professionals who serve them in times of need. We hope to have some emergency vehicles present to help us “Light Up the Dark!”
