Wetland Sunrise with Terry Dickinson

Saturday, March 8, 2025 (9:30 AM - 11:30 AM) (EST)

Description

Water is an illusion. In reality it is clear and colorless. But its reflective properties give it life and interest whether it is a calm body of water or broken fragments of color caused by the current tearing at its surface. Capturing this illusion of color on still water is the goal of this class.

Terry Dickinson, with over fifty years of painting experience will guide the student each step of the way from the layout of color on the pallet, to the block in, to mixing color to get just the right hew, to blending the edges for final effect.

This class is open to all ages.  It is open at all stages of learning art - beginner to experienced.  Registrants only need to be able to remain engaged for the full class period.

Materials For Wetland Sunrise (March) : I will be instructing the class with Windsor Newton Water Mixable Oils. Traditional oil paints or acrylic paints are OK, however the acrylics will dry faster than the oils and create a challenge to blend the edges.

We will limit the pallet to the following colors: White, Cadmium Yellow Pale Hue, Yellow Ochre, Orange, Burnt Sienna and either Cobalt or Ultramarine Blue.

You should also have a #2 and #8 Filbert or flat brush and a small and medium size painting knife.

Please have a 16x20 or 20x24 canvas.
